Jeanie Marie Buss has been an American entrepreneur for over 20 years. She is currently the president and controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. Buss is a native of California and was raised as part of a wealthy family. Her father Jerry Buss was a real-estate tycoon, who was later the manager of the Lakers and other sports businesses. Their relationship ended in 1972 and she began to feel emotionally abandoned. When she was 19, she began working in the family business. Later, she founded the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. The position she held was President of Great Western Forum prior to being elected vice-president of the Lakers. Buss, her five brothers and sisters and their father, who owned the Lakers and ruled them up to his passing away in 2013, received the ownership via a trust. They each enjoyed the same vote rights. In 2013, she took over the presidency of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss was also a part-owner of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling association).
